21-Day Equitable Development Challenge
The events of 2020 have prompted us all to reflect on the continued inequalities and injustices faced by people of color every day. Many of us are recognizing our privileged position in society and the role we have played in perpetuating broken systems that continue to discriminate against, and disadvantage, people of color.
ULI is committed to be a catalyst for local change in the real estate industry and in our diverse communities. To start this work, ULI Austin is inviting you to participate in a 21-Day Challenge. The goal is to spend time both personally reflecting and in group discussions to identify real actions we can take individually, at our company/organization, and as a community to address the inequities in the real estate industry.
Please share the challenge with anyone you think will be interested – friends, colleagues, co-workers.
As more people in cities across the United States participate, we can have more purposeful discussions and most importantly identify collective actions that we can take to push an Equitable Development Agenda forward. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
How the Challenge Works:
For three consecutive Fridays (starting October 16) you will receive an email with a list of articles, blogs, videos, etc. The challenge is to complete 7 items on the weekly list; most tasks should take less than an hour to complete. Every week one of the options is to attend a virtual Happy Hour or Coffee Hour to discuss what you learned and action steps you want to take.
Each week is organized around a different focus and discussion group questions will be targeted toward that focus. We will end the challenge with a discussion about “What do we do next?” on November 11.
