2021 People Nominations

MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Recognizes a ULI member who has made positive contributions to ULI this year.


Sarah Andre, Owner, Structure Development

Ms. André has worked in affordable housing since 1994. Her experience includes both consulting on and development of a variety of affordable housing options. Since 2005 her focus has been on multifamily development using Low Income Housing Tax Credits. In this capacity she has been involved in the creation of more than 13,000 units of multifamily housing across Texas with investments of more than $900MM.

Ms. Andre has held positions at Diana McIver & Associates, The Enterprise Foundation and Austin Revitalization Authority. In her capacity as an employee, she oversaw the development of the Juniper-Olive Historic District on East 11th Street in Austin, a single-family development including new construction and historic rehabilitation.

Ms. André founded the Austin CHDO Roundtable in 2002, chairs Austin’s Affordability Strategic Council for the Urban Land Institute and serves on their Advisory Board. She is also a director for the Austin Geriatric Center which is undertaking the redevelopment of 17 acres on Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. The development will include 500 units of affordable housing for seniors, market-rate housing, and commercial space.



Heidi Cisneros, Managing Principal, Structures

Heidi, managing principal of a local small business, has 25 years of small business management experience.   Prior to her current role, she worked for a national retail chain while attending University of North Texas and attended management training courses at night.  She was promoted within the company and managed a retail store grossing $1 million dollars per week.  At that time, she was the youngest manager in the history of the organization.

Heidi is currently the managing partner for Structures and has directed all aspects of the firm’s financial and business administration since 1996.  Her foresight has assisted in creating long-term business strategies.  Her ability to function as a key decision maker for the business has produced new opportunities and business ventures for growth and advancement.

She is a current board member of her HOA, past treasurer of SMPS, a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, and sits of the Austin Chamber of Commerce Air Task Force Committee.  Heidi just finished serving as Programs Chair for ULI Austin and is now the Chair of Mission Advancement in addition to serving on the Management Committee and Advisory Board.  Heidi sits on the P3 Local Member Council, TAPs Committee, and is an UrbanPlan trained volunteer.

Heidi is a mother of two and wife of 20 years.  In her spare time, she hosts women groups and facilitates retreats, is a member of a local bourbon and whiskey club and amateur gardener and cook.



Lance Coplin, Vice President, Real Estate Lending, Frost Bank

Lance Coplin is focused on providing construction loans to the real estate development community in Texas. As a real estate lender with Frost Bank (NYSE: CFR) he serves new and existing clients as a trusted source of project financing. With over $500 million in real estate loan closings for local and national developers, he has deep transaction and asset management experience in all property types. He began his real estate career as a commercial appraiser with a brief tour in private equity on the West Coast before returning to Austin to build a career in lending. Lance is also the newly elected chair of ULI Austin’s Programs Committee; currently serves on ULI’s Urban Local Member Council; and is a member of ULI Next. Outside of his professional pursuits, Lance volunteers with Junior Achievement, the Thundercloud Turkey Trot, and the Salvation Army.

Dan Hennessey, Consulting Engineer, Project Development, City of Austin Transportation Department

Dan Hennessey, PE, TE, PTOE, is a graduate of The Ohio State University (B.S., 2007) and the University of California, Berkeley (M.S., 2008). Dan has been working for more than 13 years in transportation and mobility planning and traffic engineering, with a focus in multimodal transportation planning, the interaction between land use and transportation, and traffic operations analysis/traffic engineering design. Dan currently leads the Project Development program with the City of Austin Transportation Department, a role he began in March 2021.

Dan formerly served on the Urban Transportation Commission for Mayor Pro Tem Delia Garza (Vice Chair 2019-2020), has been on the ULI Austin Transportation Strategic Council since 2016 (Chair since 2019), and has been on the ULI Austin Advisory Board since 2019. Dan was included in the inaugural class of Young Leaders to Follow by the Institute of Transportation Engineers in 2021, is a mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Texas, and was a participant in the ATXelerator elected office candidate recruitment program in 2021.



Jeff Nydegger, Shareholder, Winstead

Jeff Nydegger is a shareholder at Winstead, where he leads the Firm’s P3 and alternative delivery industry group. Jeff primarily represents public sector clients on a variety of public law matters, with a focus on procurement, real estate and project delivery.  Locally, Jeff’s major projects include Project Connect, the Austin Economic Development Corporation, the Moody Center, and the Travis County Civil and Family Courts Facility.

Jeff has also served as a board member and general counsel to the Greater San Marcos Partnership since 2016, and he currently sits on the Austin Regional Board of KIPP Texas Public Schools.  He has served on ULI Austin’s Programs Committee since 2019 and was the inaugural co-chair of the P3 Local Member Council.


YOUNG LEADER OF THE YEAR

Recognizes an outstanding ULI Young Leader who creates positive contributions to ULI Young Leaders, their profession and the community. These younger professionals set the bar for career advancement, goal-setting, community service and a strong commitment to ULI’s mission.


Andrew Grimm, Vice President Commercial Real Estate Lending at Frost Bank

Andrew Grimm is Vice President of Real Estate Lending at Frost Bank. Andrew manages the ongoing banking and lending relationships of customers across all real estate asset types with a focus on development and construction, including retail, office, medical office, multifamily, self-storage, and single family. He is responsible for analyzing and underwriting real estate projects, developing comprehensive credit packages, presenting to loan committee for credit approval, managing loan documentation and closing, overseeing construction monitoring and draw process, and monitoring lease-up, sales and ongoing property performance and loan compliance.

Andrew is actively involved with the Austin District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and currently sits on the Advisory Board, Management Committee and is Chair of Special Events. He also served on the Membership Committee and is an alumnus of the Young Leader Mentorship Forum where he was a group lead.  He is also involved with the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA) and is a member of its Leadership Development Council (LDC) for 2020-21.

Andrew earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Finance from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.



Lexie Hall, Senior Associate Tenant Representation, Cushman & Wakefield

As a Senior Associate with Cushman & Wakefield, Lexie Hall specializes in representing office tenants of all sizes in site selection, lease and purchase negotiations and renewal and relocation evaluation. She identifies her client’s objectives and helps align their financial and operational goals with an optimal real estate strategy, providing exceptional service and personal attention with every interaction.

Putting her heart and soul into every aspect of life, Lexie Hall is the portraiture of a true professional in the real estate field. Lexie’s passion for real estate stemmed from family roots where customer service and community involvement were the highest priorities. Within the Austin community, Lexie has chaired I Live Here I Give Here’s See Jane Give, is on the board for Cushman & Wakefield Future Leaders, Vice President of Commercial Broker Associate Austin, volunteers for Girls Empowerment Network, and many other community organizations. She chaired ULI Austin’s Mentorship Forum and served on the Young Leaders Steering Committee and Membership Committee. With a heart-based persona and persistence to succeed, Lexie will continue to champion for others while chasing her dreams in commercial real estate.



Karly Houchin, Attorney, Allensworth

Karly Houchin is a construction attorney at Allensworth where she handles professional liability cases and complex, multi-party disputes. Whether representing clients in front of a professional licensing board or defending them against design and construction defect claims, construction delay cases, or closeout disputes, Karly thrives on being the most prepared person in the room. As a trusted advocate, Karly guides her clients through each stage of the litigation process, from pre-claim disputes to formal litigation, mediation, or arbitration proceedings, and everything in between. Her role is always to help her clients reach a swift resolution and make what might otherwise be a frustrating and confusing process as easy as possible.

Karly completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin and received her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she focused her studies on construction law and clerked at multiple construction litigation firms in the San Antonio and Austin areas. She also served as an extern from the Honorable Pamela Mathy of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, an experience that provided valuable insight into dispute resolution from a federal judge’s point of view.

Karly Chairs the Young Leaders Committee for ULI Austin and serves on the Management Committee and Advisory Board.  She also served on the board for Austin Young Women’s Alliance.  When she’s not digging into legal details, Karly is an avid golfer and an enthusiastic hiker on the trails in and around Austin.


INFLUENCE AWARD

Recognizes a ULI member who has positively influenced ULI Austin over many years, contributing to the district council’s growth and mission advancement.


Phil Capron, Chairman, Falcon Southwest

Phil serves as Chairman of Falcon Southwest and oversees all property acquisitions, development and capital raising activities. He also serves as the relationship manager for the firm’s key institutional clients and partners. Over the span of his 40+ year career, Phil has negotiated the acquisition, disposition and development of several hundred million dollars of commercial real estate. He has developed or rehabbed over 5,000 apartments and 2M sq ft of office space over his career in Texas and Arizona. Phil holds a Bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin.

Phil was on the Austin Board of Habitat for Humanity and was heavily involved in the establishment of the first long-term fund raiser of The Restore in Austin. He currently serves on the Real Estate Committee for Foundation Communities. Phil is the past President of both the Austin chapter of NAIOP and the ULI Austin District Council. He also served on ULI Austin’s Programs Committee, Management Committee, and as the District Council Treasurer. With ULI Americas, Phil was a member of both the Suburban Office and Commercial & Retail Development National Product Councils. He is still actively involved with ULI Austin serving on the Governance Committee and as a trained UrbanPlan volunteer.



Jeff Coddington, Senior Vice President, JLL Capital Markets

Jeff is a Senior Vice President in the Austin office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas, with 35 years of experience. His primary role is to assess, strategize, and execute complex commercial real estate needs of investors, corporations, and non-profit organizations. Jeff’s clients include JPMorgan Chase, Starwood Capital Group, Wells Fargo, Johnson & Johnson, Applied Materials, the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and others.

Prior to joining JLL, Jeff was with the Austin affiliate of Cushman & Wakefield for 20 years, establishing their sales practice in 1997. His earlier roles included working with AIG Global Real Estate as it acquired pools of commercial real estate mortgage’s and subsequently packaged those pools into REMIC’s. Jeff currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Real Estate Center at the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin and on the board of Ballet Austin. Jeff has addressed and moderated panels for a host of real estate related events for ULI, the Real Estate Council of Austin, and other organizations. For ULI Austin, Jeff has also served as a mentor for the Young Leader’s Mentorship Forum, Chaired the Commercial Local Member Council, and served on the Programs Committee.



Dave Stauch, Managing Principal, CPM Texas

Dave Stauch graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Building Construction and is the founder / managing principal of CPM, Texas. Over the past 35+ years, Mr. Stauch is responsible for the leadership in construction projects totaling over $3 billion. In addition, Mr. Stauch maintains a successful practice as a construction claims consultant and testifies as an expert witness.
Dave has served on the boards of the American Red Cross of Central Texas, Austin Habitat for Humanity and the Western Hills Little League, where he is sometimes known as ‘Coach’. He also served in leadership roles with the Urban Land Institute of Austin, including Governance Committee Chair, District Council Chair, Chair of Mission Advancement and founding the TAPs Committee. Outside of work, Dave is known for his excellent taste in scotch and his mediocre golf game. Other valuable skills include bent nail straightening and plumb bob verification. He spends most weekends at Lake LBJ – or in Aggieland during the fall. He is married with two grown children and is ‘Papi’ to his grandkids.
