Brad Compere – CEO/President, Capstone Title
Brad Compere has been a Texas attorney since 2000, specializing in real estate transactions. In January 2014, he founded Capstone Title and Compere Law PLLC (now Compere & Gorman PLLC). With both Capstone Title and Compere & Gorman PLLC, Brad and his team provide an exceptional level of expertise and a unique perspective to residential and commercial real estate transactions in Austin, Central Texas, and other markets throughout the state. Brad earned a B.A. in English from the University of Texas in 1997 and a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2000.
Brad just concluded a two-year term as Membership Chair for ULI Austin where he helped grow membership through the pandemic. He also is past chair and still an active member of ULI Austin’s Multi-family Local Member Council. He currently serves on the Dell Children’s Trust Board, is on the Executive Committee of the Wine and Food Foundation Board, and is an active Member and Board Member of the Austin Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). Additionally, he serves as an Advisory Director on the Board of SouthStar Bank. Brad previously served as Member and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Seton Fund’s “Fifty” and is also a Past Member and Past President of the Board of Trustees of the Austin Division of the South Central Texas Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Brad loves spending time with his family and loves the mountains. After graduating from law school, he spent a year in Colorado tending bar, waiting tables, skiing, hiking, biking, fishing and experiencing life in the outdoors. He gets back to the mountains with his family every chance he can get.
Lance Coplin – Vice President, Real Estate Lending, Frost
Lance Coplin is focused on providing construction and acquisition financing to the development community in Texas. With over $700 million in real estate loan closings for local and national developers, he serves new and existing clients in his role as real estate lender with Frost Bank (NYSE: CFR). His experience ranges from pre-development land loans to mid-rise and tower project financing, as well as specialty credit facilities for master planned communities. With a background in commercial appraisal and private equity he brings a unique and diligent approach to lending.
Lance serves as the chair of ULI Austin’s Programs Committee; currently serves on ULI’s Urban Local Member Council; and is a member of ULI NEXT. Outside of his professional pursuits, Lance volunteers with Junior Achievement, the Thundercloud Turkey Trot, and the Salvation Army.

Elena Cutshall – Co-Director of the Workplace Interiors, Gensler
ELENA M. CUTSHALL IIDA, LEED AP is a Co-Director of the Workplace Interiors studio at Gensler, a global architecture, design, and planning, firm with 5500+ professionals networked across 51 locations in Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and the Americas. Founded in 1965, the firm serves more than 3,500 active clients in virtually every industry.
Elena is a client advocate and relationship steward, project leader, and strategist. Her project experience includes workplace design for corporate headquarters, law firms, technology companies, as well as multifamily work.
She weaves design thinking into a comprehensive framework of branded environments, change management, client relations, and workplace strategy. She is also a practice builder, leveraging her diverse project experience and business acumen to engage and partner with high profile clients. Elena has demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout her career and has a talent for building and motivating strong teams.
Elena has been a member of ULI since 2013 and has participated on various programs such as: ULI NEXT Central flight 2018-present, 2021 Young Leader Cohort Mentor, ULI Austin – Women’s Leadership Initiative Exchange trip to Washington D.C. and moderated the Evolution of Live, Work, Play virtual panel in 2021. In addition to her involvement with ULI she has been an active participant in CREW Network since 2013 and in 2021 became CREW Austin President.
Stephen Buchanan – Acquisitions & Development Associate, CREA
As a Development Manager at CREA, Stephen is focused on multifamily, office and mixed-use development in Austin, TX, Denver, CO and Nashville, TN. Stephen is responsible for execution of CREA’s existing development portfolio, investment management and sourcing new pipeline targets. Stephen is involved all aspects of land acquisition and development, including site selection, diligence, financial underwriting, contract negotiation, project management, financing equity and debt, construction management, lease-up and disposition. Stephen most recently completed the Eastlake at Tillery office development in East Austin, TX and the SXSW Center in downtown Austin, TX prior to joining CREA. Stephen is committed to sustainable, environmentally-conscience, mixed-use, and mixed-income development surrounding the urban cores of high-growth markets.
Stephen is an active member of the Young Leaders Committee since 2019. He has served as chair for ULI Austin’s Mentorship Forum for Young Leaders 2020-present and previously served as a group leader for the forum. Stephen is also active with the Trail Foundation as Chairperson and Committee Member of the Redbud Circle, which is responsible for philanthropy and volunteer work on the Butler Hike and Bike Trial surrounding Town Lake in downtown Austin. Outside of work, Stephen can be found outdoors, listening to live music or traveling somewhere new.
Danielle Smyth – Project Manager, BOKA Powell
A licensed architect and Associate Project Manager at BOKA Powell, Danielle Smyth oversees large-scale commercial projects from conceptual design to construction with a market focus on office, hospitality, renovations, and mixed-use. She is committed to the overall process of enhancing the public realm, which includes incorporating sustainable solutions that fit the microclimate of the site, as well as the client’s needs and objectives. Danielle holds a Master of Architecture and Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University.
As an active and engaged leader in the Austin community, Danielle is highly involved in several local organizations. She served a two-year term as Chair of the Emerging Professionals Committee for AIA Austin, as well as being a part of the 2019 Leadership Collective Class. In addition, she serves on the Young Leaders Steering Committee for ULI Austin, and is an alumnus of the Austin’s Mentorship Forum for Young Leaders, where she was selected as a group leader. Outside of work, Danielle enjoys the many outdoor adventures that Austin offers, such as kayaking, bicycling, and swimming.
David Walsh – Development Director, Greystar
David Walsh is a Director of Development for Greystar in Austin, Texas. He is responsible for sourcing and executing new multifamily and student housing developments for the Austin business unit. In this role, David negotiates land transactions, manages the design and entitlement process, sources debt and equity financing, and represents the ownership group through construction, lease up and disposition.
David is an active member of the Austin District Council of the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Council of Austin and the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association. In 2021, David helped launch Building Industry Leaders (BIL), a partnership between ULI Austin and the Boys and Girls Club of Austin to educate and mentor high school students on numerous career opportunities in commercial real estate. that awards scholarships to high school students who complete a year-long education and mentoring program that teaches about career opportunities in the land-use industry. The program seeks to encourage greater ethnic and gender diversity among our future real estate industry leaders. David also serves on the Membership Committee for ULI and is an alumnus of the Young Leader Mentorship Forum.
David holds Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Jeff Coddington – Managing Director, JLL Capital Markets
Jeff is a Managing Director of JLL Capital Markets with over 30 years of industry experience. His primary role is to assess, strategize, and execute on complex commercial real estate needs of investors, corporations, and non-profit organizations. Jeff’s clients include JPMorgan Chase, Starwood Capital Group, Tishman Speyer, Wells Fargo, Johnson & Johnson and Applied Materials.
Prior to joining JLL, Jeff was with the Austin affiliate of Cushman & Wakefield for 20 years, establishing its sales practice in 1997. Earlier roles included working with AIG Global Real Estate as it acquired pools of commercial real estate mortgage’s and subsequently packaged those pools into REMIC’s. Jeff currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Real Estate Center at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and on the Board of Directors of Ballet Austin, further serving on its Management Committee. For ULI Austin, he is currently on the Advisory Board and is a mentor for the Young Leader’s Mentorship Forum. He formerly chaired and currently sits on the Commercial Local Member Council and served on the Programs Committee.
John McKinnerney – Acquisitions, Diligence and Company Oversight, Castle Hill Partners
John McKinnerney is a founding principal of Castle Hill Partners. His role includes acquisitions, investment analysis and overall business strategy. Prior to Castle Hill Partners, Mr. McKinnerney was a principal with Simmons Vedder Partners for fourteen years. Before joining Simmons Vedder, he was a Regional Acquisitions Partner with JPI.
Mr. McKinnerney is an active member of The Urban Land Institute where he recently served as a Chair for ULI America’s Industrial and Office Gold Product Council and as mentor for the ULI Austin’s Mentorship Forum for Young Leaders. He served as ULI Austin’s District Council Chair (2005-2008) and currently sits on the Governance Committee. He also serves on the Executive Committee for The University of Texas Center for Real Estate Finance and is a past member of numerous advisory boards including National Multi Housing Council, Housing Works and Real Estate Council of Austin. Mr. McKinnerney was educated at The University of Texas at Austin and has over thirty years’ experience in commercial real estate acquisitions, development and finance.
Margaret R. Shaw – Economic Development Department, City of Austin, Texas
At the City of Austin, Texas, Margaret Shaw has held a variety of leadership positions that provide significant social and economic value to Austin through real estate redevelopment and place-based initiatives. In her current role as senior project manager in the Economic Development Department, Margaret manages complex public-private real estate partnerships. These include the 2nd Street and Seaholm Districts, which transformed an industrial downtown area into a vibrant mixed-use urban destination. A 2020 independent report found that the assessed values of the 2nd Street and Seaholm Districts areas increased twenty-fold from 2000-2018, rising to more than $4 billion, while also supporting sustainability, affordable housing, local businesses and new trails and open spaces. Margaret also oversees implementation of the South Central Waterfront Plan and the downtown public improvement district. Throughout her City career, she has served in special assignments related to disaster response and recovery.
In the private sector from 2002-06, she helped to develop more than 600 units of affordable multifamily housing for rent or purchase in Austin and along the Texas-Mexico border, securing awards from National Trust for Historic Preservation (Hamilton Hotel, Laredo) and U.S. Department of Justice (The Boulevard, Austin). In the 1990s, she worked in Washington, D.C. as an aide to HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros after rising within the White House Office of Management and Budget staff. With ULI Austin, Margaret sits on the Commercial Local Member Council and was its inaugural co-chair and has served on Membership Committee and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Jennifer Wiebrand – Area Vice President, Gables Residential
Jennifer Wiebrand is a Regional Vice President of Investments for Gables Residential and is responsible for all development and acquisition activities in Texas. Recent completions total over 1200 units and $750M in value. Prior to joining Gables, she worked for a private group on Florida’s Emerald Coast developing environmentally-responsible, resort-style, waterfront home communities. With over 15 years in finance and real estate development, she specializes in extracting value from complexity, specifically in mixed-use and multi-family assets.
Jennifer has been involved with ULI since her career in real estate began and remains very active with the Women’s Leadership Initiative, recently leading a market exchange to D.C, and serving as a judge for the University of Texas Cogburn Competition, an extension of the ULI Hines Student Competition. She served as chair of ULI Austin’s Women’s Leadership Initiative 2017-2019 and as juror of the 2021 Impact Awards. She has also served on the Board of the Downtown Austin Alliance for 10 years, is currently Chair Emeritus, and also sits on the Board of the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation. Active with her alma mater, Jennifer is a member of the Advisory Council for the University of Texas Real Estate Center. In her free time, she is an unpaid chauffer for her daughter’s soccer team and regularly delivers lunches for Meals on Wheels.
