Welcome to the fishbowl! You are invited to experience a facilitated conversation about possible actions and solutions to mitigate displacement tied to gentrification in Austin. Unlike the typical “talking head” panel experience, the interactive fishbowl discussion offers the chance for 8 different speakers to contribute to the conversation in a structured way. We will explore the impacts of gentrification through a uniquely designed exercise beginning with three speakers initiating the discussion in the “fishbowl”, while the other speakers actively listen. The listening speakers may jump into the fishbowl at any point and add to the conversation, thereby replacing one of the other active speakers. This innovative model allows for the fluid exchange of ideas and promotes canny discussions throughout the session. Registrants are invited to watch and listen to an engaging conversation that, by design, invites rotating viewpoints and opinions.
