ULI Austin December UrbanPlan Workshop [VIRTUAL]
The UrbanPlan Exchange is an interactive program that provides an engaging opportunity for industry professionals, community stakeholders and policymakers to learn about the fundamental forces that shape and affect the built environment. The team-based exercise simulates the planning process using LEGOS, a 3D site plan and a spreadsheet to respond to a hypothetical RFP for a fictional urban neighborhood.
Teams must decide how dense to build out a 5½ block area, whether
to keep or move a homeless shelter, what type of retail is appropriate, and
which neighborhood groups to keep happy – all while meeting the financial
projections of the City and the Developer. The exercise concludes with teams
presenting to a mock City Council that awards the project to the Development
Team with the best proposal.

ULI Austin is hosting
three additional UrbanPlan Workshops in 2022. All workshops are open to anyone
and everyone (ULI members and non-members alike).

- April 13/14, 2022 | Virtual, two half-days Wednesday 11:45-4:00pm & Thursday 8:45-1:00pm | $120 per person
- June 15, 2022 | In-person, location TBD | 8:00am-3:30pm | $150 per person
Private
workshops are also available to public municipalities and private sector
companies on a contract basis.
