ULI Austin December Breakfast: Opportunity Zones
Opportunity Zones are a federal tax incentive created as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. The Opportunity Zone framework is designed to drive new investment to defined areas of the U.S. that have historically been overlooked by private capital. Austin is home to several areas that fall within Opportunity Zones, but are we fully realizing the program’s potential? Federal regulators have provided clarification and guidance to those looking to utilize the program; however, the process presents a level of complexity that can still seem daunting. Our panel of local developers and national investor will share their experiences with Opportunity Zones and provide a practical perspective to highlight ways Austin can harness the power of this exciting new tax incentive.
