Congratulations to 2018 Impact Award Winners!

ULI Austin celebrated its 2018 Impact Awards on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at a ceremony at the ZACH Theatre, recognizing and celebrating projects and people throughout Greater Austin that exemplify ULI’s mission. The awards, granted annually, include honors in a number of people-of-the-year award categories as well as competitive project award categories. (View full press release.)

PEOPLE-OF-THE-YEAR AWARD CATEGORIES & RECIPIENTS

Vision Award

Recognizes an individual in the field of real estate development or a related area such as finance, planning or design who has made an outstanding contribution in his or her lifetime within the Austin region. Previous recipients include: Tom Stacy, CapRidge Partners (2015); Alan Graham, Mobile Loaves & Fishes (2016); and Senator Kirk Watson (2017).

ULI Influence Award

Recognizes a ULI member who has positively influenced ULI Austin over many years, contributing to the district council’s growth and mission advancement.
2018 Recipient – Greg Weaver, Catellus Development Corporation

ULI Member of the Year

Recognizes a current ULI member who creates positive contributions to ULI, ULI Austin, their profession and the community. The award recognizes a member who contributes to the success of ULI and the real estate industry as a whole.
2018 Recipient – Chip Mills, RVi Planning & Landscape Architecture

ULI Young Leader of the Year

The Young Leader of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding ULI Young Leader member who makes a positive contribution to the Young Leaders Group, their profession and the community at large.

COMPETITIVE PROJECT AWARD CATEGORIES & WINNERS

Best Project Innovation Award

Recognizes originality and creativity in development and can include aspects of design, place-making, supporting public transit, sustainability, financing (including public/private partnerships), innovative land use or community planning or other inventive features.

Finalists included: The Corner; Fareground at One Eleven; and Yeti Flagship.

Best Project Design Award

Recognizes a completed project that demonstrated excellence in design for architecture, interior design, engineering, planning or other project element.

Finalists included: Austin Central Library and Westlake Dermatology, Marble Falls.

Best Public Place Award

Recognizes a completed project that provides the public with enhanced civic, open or public space access or experiences.

Finalists included: Fareground on One Eleven; Republic Park Square; and The Trail Bridge at Congress Ave.

Most Influential Project Award

Recognizes a project that creates a positive impact beyond its immediate borders and energizes the development of the surrounding community, resulting in a lasting effect on the built environment.

Finalists included: Capitol Wright Distribution Warehouse; Dell Medical School Master Plan & Phase 1 Development; Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Expansion; Public Safety Training Center at Austin Community College Hays Campus; Riata Vista Corporate Campus; The Richardson at Tarrytown; The Ruckus; and The Waterfront Oracle Campus.

Next Big Idea Award

This award recognizes an upcoming project, master planning effort, redevelopment, program, policy or ‘idea’ that will transform our industry and our community.

Finalists included:  Downtown Austin Vision; The Independent; Opportunity 4.0; Reconnect Austin; Saltillo; South Central Waterfront Vision Framework Plan; and Village Farm.
